CHILD AND TEEN COUNSELLING
Childhood and the teen years are life stages in which specific developmental milestones are reached and an enormous amount of growth and development takes place.
In childhood there is great physical and cognitive growth happening and children are learning about their place within the family, their school and local community. Socially, children are learning the 'rules' of interaction and behaviour, and this can be a challenging time for children and parents alike.
The teen years brings a range of new challenges as children begin the transition to adult hood but are still developing maturity and beginning to work out their own sense of self in the world. As adolescents start to expand their horizons and move into the adult world, a range of challenges can arise, for themselves and their parents, as they begin to move away from the family group and to greater independence.
Life Supports counsellors are highly experienced in working with children, teenagers and their families if required, to facilitate understanding of the unique issues they bring to counselling. With a consideration for the specific developmental level of the child or adolescent, child and teen counselling assists to address issues at an age appropriate level for each individual.
Issues may range from deviant social behaviour or school expulsion to difficult relationships between children or adolescents and other family members. Promoting respectful and workable relationships is an integral part of working with this client group as we support our clients and their parents through the challenges of this life stage.
Life Supports counsellors have offices located in Balwyn, Melbourne CBD, Moorabbin, Niddrie, Prahran, Seddon and Geelong.
